I have many fond memories as a child who spent much time at the Narrows B & B. I remember seeing Mr. and Mrs. Deeds working in the back office of the store. My deepest and sincere condolences to the Deeds sisters.

Thoughts and prayers for each and everyone!

As with Pap Paw & Russie, I thought Lowell would make it into his 9th decade. So thankful that he was with you guys and surrounded by love these past few years. You were a faithful family.

When I was in the 5th grade at the old "sheep barn" I will always remember seeing Lowell walking Jean to school before that got married. She would get off the school bus in front of the B & B and he would walk with her the rest of the way. Really sweet and romantic.

I am here and I am with you.

My friendship with "Peachy" (now I am unaware of the origin of this nickname) started not long after the Deeds family moved to Pearisburg...Our family lived at the top of Bunker Hill just down from the new water reservoir, which was only about 3 blocks from the Deeds house...My late older sister Christine was in the same grade with Lowell...The major thing that I remember about Lowell was how great he could whistle...We knew exactly the time when he walked from the drug store (where PHS students gathered at night) back to his home...His characteristic whistle pierced the night air...I delivered the Roanoke Times to the Deeds family for six years...While in high school, I worked part time with B&B Stores along with the entire Deeds family...After high school, I worked full time with B&B and transferred to the then new Narrows B&B to help Lowell arrange the counters and do the initial stocking (then back to the Pearisburg store)...I left B&B in 1951 so I could ride the USS Endicott (DMS-35) while it swept mines off the coast of North Korea for two years and then I rode two other minesweepers until 1955...Before & after I married Betty Tabor of Narrows in 1959, Betty and I attended First Christian Church with Lowell and his family...Then Betty and I moved to Morgantown, WV in 1961...Lowell had to be one of the most level headed friends that I have ever had...There was never any static between us, only a few jokes & a lot of laughter...May his soul rest in peace...

I will always remember our family visits to Narrows and many discussions with Lowell about life, business, polictics and more. I am proud to have known him and the entire family during my years as part of the Shrader family who I still hold dear to my heart and my son's heart.

Just now seeing that my longtime friend since my childhood has now left us. His family, whom I have loved so very much, especially my classmate and very special friend Sherri. I am so very sorry for you, the family, for I know how you loved your always smiling, joyful, playful and loving father. I know how this will be such a void and how also you are again reminded of the pain when you lost your wonderful mom. But I also know each of you and how you each will remember and enjoy holding onto ALL the many wonderful fun memories and stories that your dad has left with you- which are MANY and of course HILARIOUS. I want you all to know how very deeply sorry I am that they both are no longer with us, but I know you will carry on their many laughs and joys they instilled into you. They would have had it no other way! Certainly know I am thinking of each of you at this time. Call anytime for anything if you need me. Again, I am sorry for your loss of your father.

As classmates and childhood friends with Pam & Patty, we were very fortunate to spend time with Mr. & Mrs. Deeds. Both were very beautiful wonderful people.
We are sending our condolences to the Deed's Family.
God bless you at this very sad time.

Pam and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad. I remember when we were kids going to the B&B. I loved the candy counter. Enjoyed going there after becoming an adult. Lots of memories of the store and your Dad and Mom. Love Donna

My wife and i were saddened to learn of the passing of your father. I have a lot of memories of your father and mother, particularly when they operated the B and B store. I really enjoyed our visit last week but i hated to hear of your father's declining health. Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of your father. We have been touched with personal loss in the past so we know what you are going through.
