Douglas Byron Richardson, 77 of Narrows departed this life on Monday, September 25th, 2017.

A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on September 30th, 1939 and was the son of the late John Ira and Leoma Tolbert Richardson. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Emmett Richardson, Bernard Richardson, Powell Richardson, Harold Richardson, Pete Richardson, Don Richardson; and four sisters, Willie Reinhart, Clarice Brooks, Lucille Dennis, and Mary Alice Rumburg.

Doug was a retired employee of Celanese in Narrows with 42 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and gardening. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, he will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Melissa Charlton Richardson; two sons, Benjamin Richardson of Narrows, and Brian Richardson of Pearisburg; five grandchildren, Zac Richardson, Mollie Richardson, Kellie Richardson, Bryce Richardson, and Medariah Richardson; two great-grandsons, Parker Billings and Cooper Richardson; three brothers, Guy P. Richardson of Richmond, Dave Richardson of Wyoming, Michigan, Paul Richardson of Springfield, Virginia; two sisters, Nina Derby of Hampton and Linda Smith of York County, Virginia; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 12 noon at First United Methodist Church in Narrows with Rev. Doug Armstrong officiating. The family will receive friends at First United Methodist Church Wednesday from 11 AM until just prior to the service.
