George Burton French, 58, of Narrows went to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 15th, 2017.

A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born in Pearisburg on April 3rd, 1959, and was the son of the late Patteson French and Josephine Elmore McAlarnis French. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two step-brothers, Walter "Walkie" Blankenship and Leslie Bostwick; and a step-mother, Helen Blankenship French.

George had many special interests, including hunting, fishing, watching western movies and reading, but his favorite was spending time with his grandchildren, supporting them in their sporting activities. A loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, he will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Left to cherish his memory are two daughters Shelena Conley and husband Chris of Narrows, Jo Ellen Surface and husband James of Christiansburg; two grandchildren, Thomas Meredith and Haley Conley; a brother Peter French and wife Shelby of New Castle; a step-brother Lewis Bostwick and wife Anna of Narrows; a step-sister Angie Weatherly of Narrows; a special aunt, Margaret French of Narrows; wife, Debbie French of Buena Vista; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends, including very special friends Eugene "Rawhide" Lambert and Shelia Martin.

A memorial service will be held Monday, June 19th, 2017 at 7PM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Chapel Monday from 5:30 PM until just prior to the service.
