James O'Keefe (Jimmy) Smith, 63 of Narrows went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 12th, 2016.

A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on August 11th, 1953, and was the son of the late William Randall and Elizabeth Martin Smith. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Farley Smith.

Lovingly known to his co-workers as Herman, Jimmy was a longtime employee of Celanese in Narrows with over 40 years of service. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife and caregiver, Darlene Meadows Johnson Smith; a son, Randy Smith and wife Amy of Narrows; a stepson, Bryan Johnson and wife Shelley of Peterstown; five grandchildren, Hunter and Chase Smith, Haley, Kylie, and Rylie Johnson; two sisters, Darlene Blankenship and husband Stanley of Narrows, Judy Hamilton and husband Stanley of Narrows; three sisters-in-law, Belinda Waldron and husband Mark of Glen Lyn, Marlene Bailey and husband Tim of Narrows, Becky Lambert and husband Elwood of Narrows; a brother-in-law, David Robertson and wife Teresa of Pearisburg; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16th, 2016 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Ricky Green officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service Thursday from 6 to 8 PM.
