James William (Bill) Sparks, 61 of Narrows passed away at home on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 after a long illness.

He was born in Narrows on January 31st, 1956, and was the son of the late Earnest Lee and Grace Repass Sparks. In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Hawkins; and a brother, Michael Sparks.

Bill was a retired employee of New River Energetics at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. A longtime NFL Raiders fan, loved antique collecting, and a loyal NASCAR Rusty Wallace fan, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Karen Diane Sparks; a daughter, Ashley Paige Sparks of Narrows; three grandchildren, Justise Sparks, Willow Sparks, and Talon Sparks; a sister, Patricia Dennis of Rich Creek; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 16th, 2017 at 7 PM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Chapel Thursday from 6 PM until just prior to the service.
