Ruth Kathryn Sexton Smith, 69 of Narrows, was united with her husband, daughter and granddaughter in Heaven on Sunday, August 30th, 2015.

She was born in Pearisburg on May 11th, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Andrew Thomas and Lura Faye Robertson Sexton. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 40 years, Bobby Joe Smith; a daughter, Sharon Ann Smith Martin; a granddaughter, Desiree Cheyenne Smith; one brother, Andy T. Sexton; and one sister, Bertha P. Lucas.

Ruth had a huge heart and never met a stranger. Every youngster she met was like one of her own grandchildren. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, she will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

Left to cherish her memory are a son, Derek W. Smith of Narrows; a daughter, Lynn Hoston and husband Ronald of Narrows; three grandsons, Jeremy Hundley and fiancee' Shana Eads of Pearisburg, Brandon Martin and wife Chelsea of Narrows, Catlin Martin and wife Lauren of Dublin; four great-grandchildren, Tucker Hundley of Pearisburg, Chasten Martin of Narrows, Gabe Carpenter of Narrows, Brooklynn Martin of Narrows; a brother, Johnny Sexton and wife Linda of Pearisburg; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends, including Betty Ballard of Narrows, Chasity Blankenship of Narrows, Breanna Blankenship of Ripplemead, and Autumn Blankenship of Narrows.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 2nd, 2015 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows. Burial will follow in Angels Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM. The family requests that those sending memorial contributions, please consider either the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
