Charles L. Fraley Jr. of Pearisburg, formerly of Troutville, peacefully departed this life on Friday, November 17, 2017.

He was born in Society Hill, South Carolina on March 10, 1937 and was the son of the late C. L. and Margaret Foxworth Fraley, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Melaine Brewster Fraley.

Mr. Fraley was a 1954 graduate of Wytheville High School and obtained an Associate Degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Kentucky. He served the Commonwealth of Virginia for 38 years with the Virginia State Police obtaining the rank of Captain. He was a member of the First Christian Disciples of Christ Church in Narrows and Masonic Lodge #269 in Narrows. He was a long time dedicated Little League Coach for the Narrows Recreation Department and an avid Green Wave and Duke Blue Devils basketball fan.

Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Lea Beth Fraley Bowers and husband Larry of Rich Creek, Charles L. "Bubbie" Fraley, III and wife Peggy of Narrows, Marie Fraley Gee and husband Jeff of Lynchburg, Joe Fraley and wife Karen of Pearisburg: 13 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren; a sister, Judy Fraley Wason of Williamsburg and husband Harry.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 20th, 2017 at 12PM at the Glen Lyn Church of Christ followed at 1PM by the funeral service with Ronnie Abshire, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family requests that those sending memorial contributions, please consider the Narrows Athletic Fund, Inc.
